Joseph Castañeda Carrera
Since January 2017, Joseph has partnered with the people of ADORE LA in developing a different kind of faith community and a movement.

A queer man of color, a husband, a son of both an immigrant and a 4th generation parents of Mexican heritage, an artist and an outdoor enthusiast, Joseph is a SoCal-rooted pastor who is passionate about sharing a loving and liberating God, reclaiming faith with queer people, undoing religious hurt and connecting with others on a journey struggle and faith. He speaks on issues
confronting LGBTQ+, communities of color and intersectional identities, and consults with people leading grassroots movements and strategic community programming and evaluation. Previously, Joseph has worked with communities of color as a nonprofit leader in family education and community organizing, and served in Peace Corps, Ecuador. Joseph received his BA in English Literature and Political Science fromUniversity of California, Los Angeles, MPP from the California State University, Northridge and studied at the University of Birmingham, England. Joseph is completing his theological education through Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary with coursework at Luther Seminary and Wartburg Seminary. Pastor Joseph lives in Los Angeles with his husband and cutest ever dog Remy.
